About Us

UCSF Investigational Drugs Services (IDS) Pharmacy is integrated into the Department of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF Medical Center. IDS pharmacy is comprised of 13 investigational pharmacists and 9 technicians who provide services for 3 medical center campuses: Parnassus Heights, Mt. Zion, and Mission Bay (PCMB, BCH, Weill). We also support our UCSF Satellite Clinics: Cancer Center of San Mateo (CCSM) and Berkeley Outpatient Center (BOPC). IDS pharmacy manages and dispenses all investigational drugs for trials conducted within UCSF Medical Center and clinics and when investigational drug management has been delegated to IDS pharmacy by the study investigator. When the IDS pharmacy manages the drugs for a particular study, all necessary drug control and record keeping functions are conducted for the investigator. See the Services tab for a complete list of services provided by the IDS pharmacy.

General information: Typical classification for sterile compounding rooms are either ISO Class 7 or ISO Class 8. For sterile compounding areas that don't meet a classification (such as C6984), they are considered Segregated Compounding Areas (SCAs). All hoods for sterile compounding must be ISO Class 5 or better. The hoods are usually always ISO Class 5 because that is the CETA standard to design and test to.
